Ethnoscience, the study of indigenous knowledge systems and their interrelation with the natural world, reflects a rich tapestry of cultural beliefs, practices, and worldviews. This paper explores the cultural influences that shape and define ethnoscientific knowledge across diverse societies. By analyzing cross-cultural case studies in ethnobotany, ethnozoology, and traditional ecological knowledge, we reveal how cultural frameworks influence the classification, utilization, and transmission of scientific understanding within indigenous contexts. We argue that ethnoscience is not merely an alternative to Western science but a dynamic system deeply embedded in sociocultural, spiritual, and linguistic dimensions. Cultural norms, cosmology, and oral traditions significantly govern the development of local scientific taxonomies, experimental approaches, and environmental management practices. Furthermore, the paper discusses how colonial histories, modernization, and globalization have disrupted and, in some cases, transformed traditional ethnoscientific systems. Recognizing and integrating ethnoscience within contemporary scientific discourse not only enhances biodiversity conservation and sustainable development but also affirms cultural identity and epistemic diversity. Ultimately, the study underscores the importance of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage through intercultural dialogue, participatory research, and policy frameworks that respect indigenous knowledge systems.
